Trevor Barnes: ‘Karl and Albrecht Haushofer and the Spaces of Nazi Geopolitics’ – lecture at Queen Mary

Fascinating Trevor Barnes lecture at QMUL, I was just looking at the Annals piece with Claudio Minca on Schmitt and Christaller, interesting reading.

Progressive Geographies

Queen Mary School of Geography is pleased to invite you to a lecture by Professor Trevor Barnes from the University of British Columbia – Distinguished School Visitor for 2014.

‘Karl and Albrecht Haushofer and the Spaces of Nazi Geopolitics’

Tuesday 11th March, 2014, 6pm (followed by wine reception), Room 126, Geography Building, School of Geography, Queen Mary University of London, E1 4NS

The lecture will examine the relationship between the German geographers Karl and Albrecht Haushofer, a father and son, and the Nazi leadership. Both men were, at times, influential within Nazi high command despite the surprising fact that Karl Haushofer’s wife, and Albrecht’s mother, was Jewish.

The lecture traces their decline and fall to its tragic end, and Karl Haushofer’s final wish that they be “forgotten and forgotten.”

The event is free, but registration is required. Please see: Eventbrite – Spaces of Nazi Geopolitics
