I’ve just finished writing the paper I’ll be presenting at the Sensing War conference in London tomorrow (12th June). The paper is called ‘The Meaning of Light: Seeing and Being on the Battlefield’, and is constructed around a poem I wrote about my experiences in Iraq in 2003. It’s quite an experimental format, so fingers crossed it comes across okay tomorrow!
In the course of my research I’ve been in touch with Tim Edensor at Manchester Metropolitan University, who leads the MMU Light Research group with Steve Millington. Tim asked me to write a short piece for their blog which I was very happy to do. The blog can be found here, and the abstract for the conference paper here.
I’ve really enjoyed writing the paper and hope I can turn it into a journal paper after the conference. Any comments, thoughts, ideas etc are therefore most welcome.
