‘The Meaning of Light’ paper now online in Cultural Geographies

It was a nice surpise waking up today to find my first journal article has now been published in Cultural Geographies. The paper is based on a poem called Light Discipline, which I wrote about my experiences serving as a reservist soldier in Iraq in 2003. It is currently Online first, but in due course will form part of a special issue on Darkness edited by Tim Edensor. It’s been a long and fairly torturous journey from poem to paper, via various conferences, but has been a valuable insight into how the editing, peer-reviewing and publishing process works. Note to self – don’t leave copyright permissions till the last minute!
