RGS-IBG Postgraduate Forum Mid-Term Conference

Royal Holloway, University of London

18th-20th April 2018

Abstract submission deadline:Friday 19th January 2018

The organisers of the annual RGS-IBG PGF Mid-Term Conference, this coming year hosted by Royal Holloway, University of London, warmly invite submissions for 2018’s conference. Inviting postgraduate researchers from all areas of geography, proposals may focus around a specific paper or chapter, a research project or thesis more generally, or topics relating to research methods and fieldwork (whether successful or challenging).

The conference will take place at Royal Holloway, University of London over three days on the 18th, 19th & 20th of April. The conference will be hosted in the Geography department at Royal Holloway’s campus in Egham (recently voted the most beautiful campus in the UK!).

Why should I attend?

The Mid-Term is a fantastic opportunity for all postgraduate students to present their current work and research to peers in a friendly and supportive environment. Postgraduates from all stages of their research are welcome to present, and the conference provides an ideal opportunity for first-time presenters, or those preparing for other conferences or their PhD Viva. If you want an opportunity to practice your presenting skills or to network with fellow postgraduate geographers, this event aims to foster a relaxed and informal space to discuss your research, offering a diverse and often interdisciplinary array of topics.

On top of a packed programme of paper and poster presentations, your registration fee will also include: workshops, keynote speeches, research working group meet and greet sessions, a drinks reception and three-course meal on the Thursday evening.

How much?

The cost of the conference is £60. We aim to keep this cost as low as possible, and this includes lunch on Thursday & Friday, a three-course meal on Thursday evening, as well as refreshments throughout the conference.

This year we are offering discounted accommodation in our popular Founders building on campus. Registration and 2 nights stay (incl. breakfast) costs £128.

As with previous Mid-Term conferences, additional funding/bursaries are made available to cover conference fees through associated RGS-IBG research groups. More information on how to apply for bursaries will be available in the coming weeks.
